Latin Builders Association Recognizes Miami Zoning Attorney Melissa Tapanes Llahues With First-Ever “Leadership Award”

(MIAMI) October 13, 2016 — Bercow Radell & Fernandez shareholder, land use and zoning attorney Melissa Tapanes Llahues, was presented with the first-ever “Leadership Award” by the Latin Builders Association® (LBA) at the Association’s recent 36th Annual Awards Luncheon in downtown Miami. Florida Governor Rick Scott made the presentation.

“I am deeply honored by the recognition given me by the Latin Builders Association,” Tapanes Llahues said. “I strongly support the organization’s mission; it gives me great pleasure to be in a position to help them.”

She assisted the LBA Children and Family Foundation to obtain governmental approvals for the LBA Charter High School, and is an active political advocate for the organization.”

In 2012 Tapanes Llahues was named the LBA’s “Director of the Year” and spearheads their legislative affairs as an Executive Director and Chairwoman of the Political Action Committee.

In addition, she is currently Chair-Elect of the President’s Council at Florida International University for the 2015-2017 term. She also serves as Chairwoman of the Florida International University President’s Council World’s Ahead Faculty Award Committee. She is also a member of the Miami chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). Recently, she served as Chairwoman of the City of Doral’s Doral Design District Steering Committee and was one of 13 members comprising the City of Miami Charter Review & Review Committee.

The South Florida native has been consistently named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, an “Up and Comer” by Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, and by numerous Who’s Who publications.
