CLIENT NEWS: Island Approves Developer’s 6-Story Apartment Complex

August 28, 2023

Clara Homes won approval from the town of Bay Harbor Islands for a six-story apartment complex.

This is the third apartment complex planned on the island by Miami-based Clara Homes, led by James Curnin.

Located on 1.3 acres at 10200 to 10290 E. Bay Harbor Drive, Clara Bay Harbor was approved for 77 apartments and 158 parking spaces, with required valet parking and car stacking with mechanical lifts. There would be a breezeway in the middle of the building. The apartments range from 1,125 square feet with two bedrooms to 2,460 square feet with four bedrooms plus a den. Amenities would include a pool deck and a fitness center.

The developer plans to break ground in 2024.

Miami attorney Maritza Haro Salgado represented the developer in the application. Miami-based S & E Architects designed the buildings.

Clara Homes, through affiliate CHBH 103rd Street LLC, assembled the property for a combined $17.6 million in 2022 after buying a pair of older apartment buildings.

Clara Homes has been quite active in Bay Harbor Islands. It broke ground on a 28-unit apartment building in February and was also approved for a 45-unit apartment building, which it plans to break ground on by the end of this year.

There’s a development boom in Bay Harbor Islands in recent years, with more than 500 residential units under construction or proposed. The town has attracted many wealthy residents because it’s a quiet neighborhood near the luxury-focused Bal Harbour Shops.
