The upcoming Little River District is set to become the first fully integrated smart home city in Florida, according to an announcement by a technology company.
SKYX Platforms Corp said it would be supplying smart home tech for the development.
Each unit will be equipped with the smart home technology, along with free internet, the announcement said.
Little River District is planned to include 5,700 affordable and workforce housing units, and is said to be the largest affordable housing development in Miami-Dade County’s history
Plans include more than 370,000 square feet of retail space, including a Home Depot and BJs .
A major supermarket, gas station, and food and beverage outlets are also planned.
The development also includes a new $35 million Tri-Rail station, and around 250,000 square feet of publicly accessible green space.
The Miami-Dade County Commission voted unanimously last month to approve plans for the development.
Arquitectonica is the architect.
SG Holdings, a joint venture comprised of Swerdlow Group, SJM Partners, and Alben Duffie is leading development of the district.
