Biography

Maritza Haro Salgado is a partner at Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes and concentrates her practice on land use and zoning matters throughout South Florida. She regularly represents clients before multiple jurisdictions, including unincorporated Miami-Dade County, City of Miami, Hialeah, Sweetwater, and Homestead, guiding complex development projects from entitlement through approval.

Maritza earned her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law. While in law school, she gained hands-on public sector experience as an intern with the City of Miami Attorney’s Office, Land Use & Transactional Division. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Tanya Brinkley and Judge Jose Rodriguez in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. In addition, Maritza was a certified legal intern with FIU College of Law’s Immigrant Children’s Justice Clinic, where she represented unaccompanied minors seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.

Before pursuing her legal career, Maritza graduated from FIU’s College of Business and founded an event planning company, which she successfully operated for more than six years. Following law school, she sold the business to a competitor to fully dedicate herself to the practice of law. She is also a licensed real estate agent in the State of Florida, bringing a practical, business-oriented perspective to land use and development matters.

Deeply committed to her profession and the development community, Maritza serves on the board of the Latin Builders Association (LBA) and is the Chair of the Women of LBA, where she supports leadership development and engagement among women in the construction and real estate industries. She is also an active member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA). Maritza further contributed to local governance as a member of the 2024 West Miami Charter Review Board. In recognition of her professional accomplishments and leadership, she was named a Woman to Watch by the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers at the 2025 MDFAWL Impact Awards.
