CLIENT NEWS: Braman Motors wants to build skyscraper housing in Miami.

May 20, 2025

Braman Motors is pitching an ambitious expansion at its longtime home near Wynwood — a project that would create an 11-story automotive building and two 60-story residential towers. The automotive empire led by Norman Braman, 92, a former owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and a prominent political donor, has 21 parcels of land in the Edgewater neighborhood and acquired three properties near the existing dealership for $13 million in 2022. The development proposed for those sites was approved with conditions April 23 by the city of Miami’s Urban Development Review Board and will be further considered June 4 by the city’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board.

The project would begin with construction of the automotive building, which proposes to hold:

  • A service lounge with 8,500 square feet of space
  • A warehouse with 14,300 square feet of space
  • A paint shop with 44,200 square feet of space
  • A body shop with 51 bays and 44,200 square feet of space
  • A service center with 243,000 square feet of space, 284 bays and 1,869 parking spaces

Under the current proposal, the residential buildings would have a total of over 1,100 units, according to a zoning chart, though it remains unclear whether they would be apartments or condominiums.

Wolfberg Alvarez and Arquitectonica are among the listed architects for the project.

A spokesperson for Braman told the Miami Herald there was no information to provide regarding the project’s timeline or projected cost but said the project aims to turn the area into a more pedestrian-oriented campus. Pedestrian and bicyclist connectivity will be prioritized and expanded, according to a letter of intent submitted to the Department of Planning by attorney Melissa Tapanes Llahues.

A final vote on the project is anticipated to happen in July.
