FIRM NEWS: Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes Expands Team with Two Associates and New Director of Project Management

Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes is pleased to announce the addition of Zakary Benjelloun and Lisa Diaz as Associates and Jordan Eddy as Director of Project Management and Of Counsel, further strengthening the firm’s multidisciplinary land use, zoning, environmental, and development practice.

These strategic additions reflect the firm’s continued investment in building an experienced team equipped to guide clients through increasingly complex development projects across South Florida and beyond.

Zakary “Zak” Benjelloun joins the firm as an Associate, where he focuses his practice on land use, zoning, environmental, and real estate development matters. He assists clients with legal research, drafting transactional documents, and navigating the regulatory processes that support development projects throughout South Florida.

Zakary earned both his Juris Doctor and LL.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law after graduating magna cum laude from Florida State University with degrees in Risk Management/Insurance and Business Management. While in law school, he served on the editorial board of the University of Miami Business Law Review and received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement Award in Professional Responsibility. His strong academic background and passion for real estate development position him to help clients successfully navigate complex land use and development matters.

Lisa Diaz joins the firm as an Associate, focusing her practice on environmental, land use, and zoning matters. She assists clients in navigating environmental permitting and regulatory processes, helping advance development projects while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Lisa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Marine Affairs from the University of Miami, with minors in Biology and Environmental Sciences, and received her Juris Doctor and Certificate in Environmental Law from Tulane University Law School, where she practiced as a student attorney with the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic. During law school, she represented clients in significant environmental matters, including challenges involving endangered species protections and environmental justice issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Lisa practiced at a prominent South Florida law firm focused on environmental and land use matters, where she advised developers and property owners on environmental and real estate matters. Her experience includes counseling clients on state environmental regulations and permitting requirements, with a particular emphasis on South Florida Water Management District regulations. Lisa also remains actively involved in the legal and local community through leadership and service with professional organizations focused on environmental and land use law.

Joining the firm’s leadership team as Director of Project Management and Of Counsel, Jordan Eddy brings a multidisciplinary background in law, urban planning, and project management. Working alongside attorneys, clients, consultants, and government agencies, Jordan oversees project management initiatives that help guide complex development projects from due diligence through entitlement and permitting.

Jordan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Master of Urban and Regional Planning, and Juris Doctor from the University of Florida. Prior to joining the firm, he managed the pre-construction lifecycle for a diverse portfolio of public and private development projects across Florida and throughout the country, including electric utility infrastructure, renewable energy, telecommunications, affordable housing, and mixed-use developments. His experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex regulatory processes further enhances the firm’s ability to provide seamless, strategic project management services to clients.

“As development projects continue to become more sophisticated and multidisciplinary, we remain committed to growing a team that can provide exceptional legal counsel and strategic project management,” said Melissa Tapanes Llahues, CEO of Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes.

The addition of Zak, Lisa, and Jordan reflects the firm’s continued growth during its 30th anniversary year and reinforces its commitment to providing comprehensive land use, zoning, environmental, and development services throughout South Florida.
