Two New Associates at The Firm

MIAMI (December 3, 2012) – Bercow Radell & Fernandez, P.A., a boutique law firm specializing in land use and environmental law, announced today that Monika H. Entin and Carli M. Koshalhave been hired as the firm’s new associate attorneys.

Entin’s practice covers land use and zoning matters throughout Miami-Dade County, with a primary concentration in Miami Beach. Her main areas of focus include representing developers and individual landowners with developmental approvals, permitting and administrative appeals.

Prior to joining the firm, Entin practiced land use, governmental relations and municipal law at Rosen Switkes & Entin, P.L., where she secured governmental approvals for residential and commercial clients. In addition to representing private sector clients, she also served as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of North Bay Village. In that position, she served as counsel to the Zoning Board, providing legal counsel, drafting ordinances, and assisting in the development code and administrative procedures.

Entin is a graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law, where she served as the Vice President of the Jewish Law Student Association, Clerk of Phi Alpha Delta and Coordinator of the Law Related Education Initiative. She is a member of the Miami Beach Bar Association and the National Association of Professional Women.

Koshal previously worked as a legal extern for Florida Power & Light / Next Era Energy, where she assisted Next Era’s environmental counsel in regulatory compliance. Following her work with Next Era, she served as a research assistant for the University of Florida Oil Spill Research Team, funded by the McIntosh Foundation, which developed reports for use by the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Task Force in creating a Gulf restoration plan for President Obama. She also gained practical field experience as an ECO Intern with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.

Koshal earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, with a certificate in Environmental and Land Use Law. She completed both graduate and undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Masters of Environmental Studies with a concentration in Geology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Biology and minors in Psychology and Organizational and Environmental Management.

Bercow Radell & Fernandez clients include Lennar Homes, International Speedway Corporation, Woolbright Development, Home Depot, Southeast Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, and Florida Power and Light Company, for which they served as lead counsel on its public hearing application for a new nuclear power plant at Turkey Point.

The firm handles all aspects of local, state and federal real estate permitting and licensing, including zoning approvals, amendments of local government comprehensive plans, developments of regional impacts (DRIs), due diligence reviews, growth management, concurrency and environmental matters.
