Dan Goldberg, Of Counsel at Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin and Tapanes, has a dynamic approach to his land use and zoning practice where he adeptly navigates the complex interplay between the private sector and public regulations. Passionate about helping clients unlock additional project value through a deeper understanding of jurisdictional rules, Dan finds it a privilege to contribute to shaping his community’s landscape.
Before joining the firm, Dan served as a Legislative Aide to a City Commissioner in Miami for 2.5 years, followed by six years as an Assistant City Attorney. During this time, he acted as a staff attorney for the Building Department, Planning Department, Office of Zoning, Department of Public Works, and various boards, including the Planning, Zoning, and Appeals Board and the Historic and Environmental Preservation Board. He then spent 3.5 years as the Zoning Administrator/Director of Zoning, where he interpreted the City of Miami’s innovative form-based zoning code, Miami 21, and defended appeals of zoning actions.
He graduated from Purdue University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2011.
Among his accomplishments, Dan developed and implemented Waiver Reform at the City of Miami, significantly improving efficiency, and making the zoning code more user-friendly for single-family homeowners. He also drafted the City’s Live Local Act implementation memorandum and led a staff of 30, successfully managing various initiatives, including ordinances that simplified driveway and parking regulations for homeowners.
