Maritza is a partner attorney at Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes focusing on land use and zoning matters in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, City of Miami, City of Hialeah, City of Sweetwater and the City of Homestead.
Maritza earned her law degree at Florida International University College of Law. During law school, she gained valuable legal experience as an intern in the City of Miami Attorney’s office in the Land Use & Transactional Division. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Tanya Brinkley and Judge Jose Rodriguez in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. In addition, she worked as a certified legal intern in the FIU College of Law Immigrant Children’s Justice Clinic representing and assisting unaccompanied minors obtain special immigrant juvenile status.
Prior to law school, Maritza graduated from Florida International University’s College of Business. Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, she founded and managed a successful event planning company for more than six years. She sold the company to a competitor upon graduating from law school to pursue her passion for business and the law. Maritza is also a licensed real estate agent in the State of Florida.
Maritza is on the board of the Latin Builders Association (LBA) and is an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA). In addition, she served on the 2024 West Miami Charter Review Board, contributing her expertise to the community’s governance.
