Peter Shoemaker is an associate attorney at Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes. He focuses his practice on land use, zoning and environmental law, and specializes in litigation related to those substantive areas of the law. Prior to joining the firm, Peter practiced as a civil litigator throughout Florida and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. With a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado and a Juris Doctorate Cum Laude from the University of Miami Law, Peter brings a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world experience to his legal practice.
Prior to his legal career, Peter embarked on a journey of global exploration and service. Certified to teach English as a foreign language, he spent two years in Thailand, where he taught high school math and SAT reading and writing, followed by another two years in Shanghai, China, teaching kindergarten. These experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for education and cross-cultural understanding.
During his time at the University of Miami Law, Peter furthered his commitment to social justice by participating in the Human Rights Clinic. He was honored with the HOPE PRO BONO challenge award for his dedication to pro bono work. He also earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Elements.
Outside of his legal pursuits, Peter is actively involved in his community. He serves as the Defensive Coordinator for the University of Miami Lacrosse Team, following his captaincy of team during an award winning season, demonstrating his leadership and teamwork skills both on and off the field.
