CLIENT NEWS: European hotel chain to open 3rd Miami location in 2024

December 14, 2023

European hotel chain CitizenM is expanding in Miami-Dade.

The Netherlands-based hospitality company announced it is opening its third Miami hotel, this one in South Beach next year.

Slated for a summer 2024 opening, the 168-room hotel is setting up shop in Miami Beach at 1212 Lincoln Road.

CitizenM, which brands itself as an “affordable luxury” brand, is the hotel’s developer.

Miami-based architecture firm Gensler is working on the designs established by citizenM’s go-to architecture agency, concrete Amsterdam, which is headquartered in North Holland, Amsterdam.

The European architecture company has also created design concepts for Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyages cruise line.

Local construction company Americaribe will serve as CitzenM’s general contractor.

The Miami Beach hotel will be equipped with a 24-hour restaurant, gym, outdoor terrace, art display and rooftop infinity pool and bar.

Lincoln Road is an outdoor pedestrian promenade that is home to over 200 shops, restaurants, galleries and public art displays.

The Lincoln Road Business Improvement District estimates the open-air neighborhood welcomes 8.1 million visitors per year.

CitizenM currently has 33 hotels in 20 cities around the world. The company’s two other Miami locations are in Downtown Miami and Brickell. Its current expansion plan aims to bring the brand’s total number of hotels to 36 by 2024 with accommodations in Europe, North America and Asia.

The hotel chain launched in 2008 with its first location at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. CitizenM was founded by Rattan Chadha, an Indian-Dutch fashion designer and executive who found and led the global fashion brand Mexx from 1986 to 2004.
