CLIENT NEWS: Publix goes yacht rock with a new dockside store in South Florida. Can you shop by boat?

December 5, 2024

Publix customers can soon rock their yacht on a grocery run.

The newly completed Hollywood store will be a dockside Publix. Customers can dock their boats and walk inside the 29,912-square-foot store to shop, said Publix spokeswoman Lindsey Wallace.

The grand opening is at 7 a.m. Dec. 12 after a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the market at 3100 S. Ocean Dr. in Hollywood. The store is on the Intracoastal, across A1A from the Atlantic ocean.

This is the second South Florida Publix on a waterfront, giving shoppers an only-in-Miami feeling of pulling up at a river dock and strolling from sea to seafood counter.

The River Landing Publix at 1420 NW North River Dr., on the Miami River, preceded the new Hollywood store in offering a dock.

The River Landing Publix scored the No. 1 slot in ESPN Southwest Florida’s 2023 ranking of 40 Miami area Publix supermarkets.

“The whole area is what helps put this Publix at number one. Maybe a stroll by the river before picking up groceries,” ESPN wrote.

We’ll soon see how fans find the Hollywood experience on the Intracoastal.

One thing’s for sure: You don’t have to eat your Pub Sub in the parking lot or in your hot car.

“The store features a seating area inside and benches on the main dock for customers to enjoy their Publix sub or other grab-and-go items,” Willis said.

In addition to the deli, the new waterfront Publix also offers another staple — a pharmacy. But the store is smaller than a typical new Publix market.
