The Builders Association of South Florida (BASF), the local affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders, has awarded Melissa Tapanes Llahues, Shareholder at Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin and Tapanes, with their 2021 President’s Award in honor of her dedication and service to the organization.

Established in 1944, BASF is the result of over 70 years combined service to the building trade association field in South Florida. The organization has a reputation for excellence in government affairs and has represented South Florida’s building industry by maintaining high standards in building through service to its membership and the general public.

Melissa represents the interests of landowners, institutional clients, and developers seeking real estate licensing and regulatory approvals from governmental boards and agencies at the local, state and federal levels. As a trustee of the BASF, Melissa has made her mark on the organization, spearheading various projects as part of the City of Miami Practice Group. Earlier this year, Melissa served on the City of Miami’s Miami 21 Report Ad Hoc Task Force where she was elected Chairperson by her peers to lead in the review of the Miami 21 Zoning Code. Melissa has also been newly appointed and sworn in as a member of the Miami Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors, where she advocates, facilitates, plans, and executes business development, planning and capital improvement projects, and marketing for Downtown Miami.

Melissa was recognized at the 2022 Installation Gala on Friday, November 5th during which BASF’s 78th President and Leadership Team were sworn into their roles.
